Why we created the
Digital Hair Awards
At M Division, we’ve spent over a decade shaping the Australian Hair Fashion Awards (AHFA) into the Southern Hemisphere’s most respected hair competition. Alongside this, we’ve been at the forefront of hair, media, and events —capturing and celebrating the craft at the highest level.
But one truth became clear: not all great hairdressers have experience and access to high-budget productions. Talent shouldn’t be limited by commercial barriers. Many competitions require significant investment, making them inaccessible to so many artists.
That’s why, over six years ago, we secured DigitalHairAwards.com. We didn’t know exactly what it would become, but after seeing the overwhelming response to smartphone categories at AHFA, we knew it was time to launch the Digital Hair Awards (DHA).
DHA is built for the modern stylist - a competition that champions creativity using the tools every hairdresser already has: their hands, talent, and smartphone. But this isn’t just another awards program; it’s a movement. By celebrating content creation, we’re inspiring more hair professionals to showcase their work, tell their stories, and engage with the consumers who drive our industry forward.
Our categories encourage mass participation, ensuring every stylist - whether solo or salon-based—has a platform to be seen and celebrated. The entry process is simple, the judging is authentic, and the impact? Massive.
AHFA: The Jewel in our Crown
While DHA fuels a new era of digital creativity, AHFA remains the pinnacle of hairdressing excellence. As the industry’s most prestigious awards, AHFA honours those who push boundaries, define trends, and elevate hairdressing to an art form.

Together, AHFA and DHA represent the full spectrum of industry recognition - one celebrating the pinnacle of creative mastery, the other pioneering digital innovation. Both share the same mission: to champion hairdressing and propel the industry forward.
This is just the beginning. Welcome to the Digital Hair Awards.
